With a little help from a friend

I've always wanted to try making a Grandmother's Flower Garden. Libby had posted the stars she's been working on. I commented that I wanted to try one and she emailed me where I could get the papers, gave me suggestions as to size and I was off and running. Now Libby prefers the 1/2" size but I thought....nope no way, I'm not working with something that small. I'm going bigger. I'm going for the 1.5" ones. So I place my order and it arrives days later. I'm excited....I'm ready to start my flower garden. I cut out my patches and proceed to stitch them around these 1.5" papers. After trying 6 or 7 of them with very poor results I"m ready to throw the whole thing in the trash. I should have listened to Libby and gotten the 1/2" ones because they would be much easier to stitch since they are much smaller and easier to handle. I emailed her again telling her of the error of my ways....how I didn't listen to her because Libby really did know best. Being the sweet dear lady that she is she told me not to fret....there really was light at the end of the tunnel. She gave me a few tips and here is my flower. Aren't bloggy friends just the best!!!!

Nothing to show

I don't really have anything to show this week. No fabric came into the house. :) I'm plugging along with my projects from last week. Judy asked us to estimate how much fabric we've busted for the month. I'm thinking I've used about 10 yards between the few projects I'm working on. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Stash busting or not

I did make several stringblocks and sew some more on my pink 4 patch project. I visited my favorite quilt shop to pick up some thread for my friend. I got 6 yards of this Christmas fabric that I can use as a neutral. It was 40% off. I thought this Nancy Halvorsen kit was cute and would be nice for next Christmas.

A few patterns made their way into my arms also.

And....I joined Thimbleberries Club so I have this kit also. It was a fun week. :)

You make my day X2

Deb over at RagsNQuilts also gave me the award. I'm really touched. If you haven't been over to her blog, you really should check it out. She does the most gorgeous machine quilting and she often shares pictures of her two gorgeous ragbabies.
Again, I would have too many of you to list so I give the award to all of you. You make my day in so many ways!

You make my day

Jeanne awarded me the "you make my day" award. I'm touched and very happy to think that I make your day. Blogging has been a wonderful addition to my life and I visit so many blogs that make me smile. I would have a hard time picking a few so I thank you all for "making my day"!

I've been working on some stringblocks and I have a bin of strings. Seems like it makes a nice cushy bed and the girls are taking turns napping in it.

Thanks for stopping by....I hope you have a wonderful day!

stash report

I missed last week's report but here I am. I haven't bought any fabric in the past two weeks. I found these pink and white 4 patch blocks I made a long time ago and put them together. There isn't enough of them to make a quilt so I pulled out a few fatquarters and made these larger 4-patches to go with them. I'm going to alternate them and add a border.

I pulled out this fabric to work on this Kim Diehl pattern. There are several patterns in this book that I would like to make.

And lastly I started working on some stringblocks again. I don't have many done for my challenge so I plan to spend some time everyday working on them.

My nephew came last week and put up some shelves for me in my sewing room. I need to organize them and get the rest of the my stuff up off the floors. I should have plenty of storage space and no need to be so cluttered....
